CRAZY EYES of Gowanus
A jellyfish swims along the top of the water in the Gowanus Canal with its “eyes” in the air. Taken in 1998, the image still befuddles me. For the longest time, I could not understand what kind of creature could survive in the waters of Brooklyn’s Superfund waterway. It has a strange beauty as it floats above the color speckled bottom of the canal.
