Gowanus Leaf was part of Mark D Phillips “25 Years of Gowanus” photo project as the Superfund waterway in Brooklyn is finally seeing the beginnings of a major EPA cleanup.

The oil floating on the top of the Gowanus Canal formed amazing shapes and gave me unique images that are beautiful in their disgusting-ness. The Gowanus Canal will one day be a playground in Brooklyn and the cleaning is finally underway.
