Gowanus: Dump No Waste
A Gowanus Canal Storm Drain with a unique fish placque warns of the consequences of waste. The Superfund waterway has been a dumping ground for generations. The Gowanus has captured sewage during rainstorms as part of the combined sewer overflow from adjacent residential neighborhoods, industrial waste from business along its banks, and polluted surface runoff from the surrounding streets.
